Nat Weber's Coaching Philosophy PDF Print E-mail

Nat Weber Tennis Coaching ensures all players have fun, improve, keep fit and healthy, reach maximum potential and enjoy the game!

Winning is a goal, but not the only goal. I believe a player performs at his or her best when focused on performing, rather than on winning.

The more emphasis on the outcome and beating opponents the less likely a player can focus on the actions, thoughts, and emotions necessary to play well.

The Nat Weber Tennis Coaching experience starts off with introducing younger players to our Wilson PeeWee Little Champs (3-6 year olds) and our MLC Hot Shot Program (7-14 year olds). Kids are ready to start as soon as they can swing a racquet!

The use of modified courts, racquets and balls keeps things easy. Kids develop technically and tactically in a fun environment.

Nat Weber Tennis Coaching recommends all students from three and up (once they have reached a certain level of success), enroll in coaching and competition as soon as possible as both programs justify and compliment each other. Students commence coaching to gain the technical and tactical skills to be able to participate in a game of competition. Through competition students become more motivated to want to learn to improve through coaching.

Parent’s positive support and reinforcement is crucial to the child’s continued participation in the sport.  Added unnecessary pressures from the parents inevitably lead to either the child dropping the sport or a strained child/parent relationship. Read on Being A Better Tennis Parent.

Nat Weber Tennis Coaching creates opportunities for everyone with any disability to play tennis. Players with a disability are seen as “tennis players”. I reinforce their ability not disability. We make available a variety of options at all levels from social to competition, promote tennis for people with a disability, encourage local Tennis Clubs to be involved in programs for people with a disability and provide access to opportunities similar to those offered to able body tennis players.

I've been lucky enough to have been involved in tennis for around 13 years now, and started to play socially and competitively when I was 7. I played in the Pembroke Drive Team from Year 10 onwards, as well as playing for various clubs around Adelaide. It's a great sport to be involved in, and I still play in a glenelg district division 2 senior competition. I'm glad that I still have the opportunity to be part of the tennis community, and contribute to the development of a whole new generation of players! I've been coaching for the last 3 years, in various age ranges and group sizes, and have also had gained lots of experience working with kids as a swimming instructor and a camp counsellor. I love coaching because it creates an environment where kids (and me!) get to have an awesome time, while at the same time constantly improving their skills, fitness and confidence. Aside from coaching, I am currently concluding my first year at university, studying Law and International Studies.

I have been playing tennis ever since I could walk. All of my first memories involve messing around with a racquet and ball and ever since then my love for playing and helping others play tennis has continued. Over the years I've been coached by some of the best tennis coaches in Australia including Graham Neville, Mark McMahon and Brod Dyke which lead me to the South Australian elite squad, winning the South Australian junior championships and eventually making the Australian tennis team at the age of 12 - along with junior boys Wimbledon champion for 2011 Luke Saville! Unfortunately from there I had some very bad luck with injuries and consequently had to scale back my involvement with the sport. However that's where coaching has been so important for me; being able to give to others the experiences I've had with some of the most respected junior tennis coaches in the world has enabled me to realise how much I really love the game! While I might not still be able to match it with the best in the world as a player, I believe the advice I've picked up from 5 years of top standard tennis is invaluable, and gives me a unique advantage as a coach. I love to help people and there's nothing I like more than to see than someone improve their game with my help!

I have always enjoyed tennis and have played competitively and socially since the age of six. I have travelled extensively while playing at an elite level throughout England and France and have trained at the Sutton Tennis Academy, London. I have coached at Pembroke school for three years and have taught children of all year and skill levels. I enjoy the rewards of coaching especially seeing children develop at the same time as having fun in a sport that I have such a passion for. Beside tennis another focus of mine is Art and I am currently a third year student at the Adelaide Central School of Art.

Nat Weber appointed me as senior coach for Nat Weber Tennis Coaching specialising in his “Development School Programs and Squads” for St Ignatius. I have really enjoyed seeing beginner players in middle and senior school develop into confident young players over the years, the transformation on several levels has been amazing - not only as tennis players!

I have been playing since I was 5 years old. I played in numerous junior tournaments, reaching number 1 in Australia when I was 14. I moved to America at 14 and trained for 6 months and played in international junior tournaments. I returned to Australia and gave tennis away to focus on my education. I now play pennant on Saturday afternoons after coaching on Saturday mornings with Nat Weber Tennis Coaching. I love to coach as it allows me to develop and support kids who want to enjoy tennis. It is extremely rewarding to work with kids who wants to improve, and its exciting to see when they achieve something they have been working on!

I have been playing competitive club tennis since I was 10. I have coached at Pembroke School for four years and in 2010 I began coaching with Nat Weber Tennis Coaching and also have been assisting Nat and three other of his coaches in "development squads" at St Ignatius. At Pembroke School and Nat Weber Tennis Coaching,  I’ve mainly taught middle and senior year girls, but this year expanded to a co-ed year 5 group. The students range from beginners through to advanced. I enjoy seeing the students enthusiastic about returning to coaching each week, reporting on their successes during matches and working to improve their games. In addition, I help out at my tennis club with club tournaments and club days. I am currently a third year uni student, studying Law/International Studies at the University of Adelaide.

I have been involved with tennis for over fourteen years. As a player, I have been a district, state and national representative, and have competed in the Women's State Premier League from 2002-2006. For the past three years, I have enjoyed and will continue coaching for Nat Weber. I have been involved with Nat Weber Tennis Coachings’ “Development Schools programs for St. Ignatius and Pembroke School from all skill levels and ages.

The most rewarding and enjoyable part about coaching is watching kids quickly develop new skills and have fun, which is the best way to learn. At present, I am playing for Trinity Gardens in Div 2 Women's Pennant, and am looking forward to taking out this year's Grand Final!

I began coaching for Nat Weber Tennis Coaching in February 2011 at Saint Ignatius College. Under Nat’s guidance, I coordinated group lessons for Senior and Junior teams. I devised training strategies to ensure the continued development of the students' games. This included drill work and match strategy to help prepare the children for Saturday Competition.

From a very young age I played competitive tennis for numerous clubs across the Eastern Suburbs. I regularly competed in Tournaments in South Australia and Interstate. In 2004 I attended the Pat Cash Tennis Academy on Hope Island in Queensland. I was also picked in the Optus Junior State Squad Red during my teenage years. I had a Junior Australia Ranking and was coached by Peter Smith at Memorial Drive. I also played Drive Tennis for my College Pembroke.

I began coaching  in 2005. I primarily coached kids in a squad like environment. I also had some experience taking Pee Wee Sessions. Inturn, I began coaching for Pembroke School on the Parade in 2007. I assisted The Head Coach - Nat Weber on training nights and supervising teams whilst they played matches on Saturday Morning.

Being a Tennis Coach,  I love fostering young talent in children and watching them grow as tennis players and growing in several aspects of their lives, generally through the confidence they have gained from my coaching.

I have had the privilege of playing tennis since I can remember. Fortunately I have lived my whole life with a grass court in the front yard, so tennis has been a major part of my life, especially just enjoying the casual hits with my mates. I played junior tennis for Trinity Gardens and was always involved with tennis at Pembroke School. I played Drive for Pembroke in year nine and then grass at Kensington Gardens after that. I love all aspects of tennis and I think it has so much to offer no matter who is participating. It gives me great pleasure helping people to develop as players and watching them enjoy themselves at the same time is awesome! I have been coaching since 2008 and currently coach at both Pembroke School (under Head Coach – Nat Weber’s guidance) and also coach for Nat at St. Ignatius College. In addition, I also assist Nat with private lessons.  Currently studying Physiotherapy, coaching for Nat Weber Tennis Coaching fits in very well with my aims and goals in what I am wanting to achieve in life!
